Accutronics are proud to announce the addition of ULTRALIFE lead acid replacement Lithium Iron Phosphate (LIFePO4)  batteries to our arsenal of high energy battery solutions.  This extensive range is specifically targeted at replacing lead acid batteries in a range of mission critical applications.  ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 products provide superior performance compared to lead acid batteries making them the perfect solution when high energy, safety, reliability and extended lifetime are required.

ULTRALIFE Lithium Iron Phosphate (LIFePO4) chemistry is the clear choice for batteries which must operate for many years without the need for servicing or replacement. The similar charging voltage means that ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries can usually be transplanted into existing lead acid applications without modification.

When it comes to maintenance the ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries out perform traditional Lead Acid batteries on nearly every measure; they never require topping with water, they don’t require gas extraction facilities and their service life is usually 5 to 7 years, compared with around 2 years for Lead Acid batteries.

The ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries are an affordable solution to many issues, especially in remote locations, while providing a much lower “total cost of ownership” solution over traditional Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) - when you also factor in the logistics and labour to replace SLA every 1-2 years, Lithium Iron Phosphate is an all-round winner.

Applications for ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries include medical carts, robotics, alarm systems, floor cleaning machines, environmental control systems, UPS, solar storage etc. – in fact any application where the technical limitations of Lead Acid batteries can be transformed through the implementation of a modern ULTRALIFE Lithium Iron Phosphate battery solution.  For transportable and space restricted applications, such as battery powered medical carts, ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries provide around twice the energy density of lead acid batteries; meaning that carts can run for longer or be made smaller and lighter.

URB12450-U1-SMBULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries contain a sophisticated battery management system (BMS) which ensures the batteries cannot be over-charged, over-discharged or over-loaded. The BMS also balances the individual cells within the battery, ensuring maximum capacity and lifetime is obtained.

Traditional lead acid batteries (SLA batteries) are only capable of providing their rated capacity at low (C/20) discharge currents whilst the ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries maintain their rated capacity at currents up to 1C. This high efficiency means that ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries will constantly outperform seemingly similar rated lead acid batteries.

Most ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries are certified to international safety standard ‘IEC 62133-2:2017’ with a CB test certificate available upon request. Compliance with IEC 62133-2:2017 is mandatory for batteries used in medical devices and is fast becoming the ‘go to’ requirement for many other battery powered devices. Certain models are also certified to North American safety standard UL 2054 which is still required for many markets.  All ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries have been tested to, and meet the requirements of testing specified in, the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria (mandatory for all Lithium batteries being offered for transport).

The current line-up of ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries comprises of twelve batteries.  Average voltage ranges from 6.4V to 25.6V and average energy from 28.8Wh to 1382.4Wh.
